Microsoft Announces BarrelFish Operating System for Multi-Processor Core
Do you like this story?
A major problem experienced by some modern operating systems is that operation does not improve as expected with the increase in the processor cores. Microsoft Research has decided to solve this problem and the result is a new operating system recently announced. His name is BarrelFish, and was developed in association with ETH Zurich. This software is an evolution of projects like Midori and Sungularity, and uses a kind of database to transmit information between cores. It will seem as surprising as the whole project is open source, so you may review every detail by yourself. At least if we have more than a few neurons.
