Samsung To the Demand of Solid-State Drives (SSD)

Samsung To the Demand of Solid-State Drives (SSD)As the demand of SSD grows so fast so Samsung is trying to bring something special to the market. As we can learn from Michael Yang, flash marketing manager at Samsung, SSD can perform it a better way than HDD (HDDs do 120 to 150 IOPS. SSDs 10,000 to 30,000 IOPS). Michael Yang also stated that “A flash device that is rated at 100,000 write cycles, for example, can write 100,000 times "to every single (memory) cell within the device,".

The good news is that you will see 128GB SSD in the third quarter of 2008 and 250GB before the end of this year. You should wait a bit longer to get the best one at the end of 2008 but you need to know that SSD is very expensive.
