Even it is a long lose of standalone fax machine but now we have a new standalone fax machine from Panasonic which may attract your attention with its paperless features.
This PW608DL allows you to send faxes cellphone-style using the machine's built-in keypad, or send documents stored on an SD card. Thank to the 3.9-inch LCD which will display any faxes you received. You may need to go to Japan to grab this one.
