Samsung has just announced some new additions to their Series 6 lineup of LCD HDTVs. Now take a look at what Samsung has brought here.

Series-9 LCDs
Samsung's new 9-series LCDs feature the company's second-generation LED backlight unit, with local dimming technology that dynamically adjusts the individual LEDs in the array to produce darker black levels, which results in increased picture contrast. The 9-series televisions also feature 120-Hz technology for reduced motion blur and a minimizing of other motion-related artifacts. The new sets offer four v1.3 HDMI ports (one side, three rear) as well as an Ethernet jack for displaying basic RSS-style information and DLNA-enabled (Digital Living Network Alliance) streaming of multimedia content from compatible server devices.

Available in 46-inch and 55-inch screen sizes, the LN46A950 and LN55A950 will be available in August with an estimated selling price of $3,199.99 and $4,199.99, respectively.

Series-8 LCDs
The new 8-series LCDs from Samsung furthers the company's "Touch of Color" bezel design with the addition of a new color option (blue) and a reduction of its overall cabinet depth to an impressively thin 1.9 inches. The 8-series comes with Samsung's 120-Hz panel technology and clear filter that improves black-level performance at the expense of increased reflectivity. As with Samsung's 9-series televisions, the 8-series will also feature network connectivity (Ethernet) for providing RSS-style feeds as well as DLNA-enabled multimedia streaming features. Similar to the 9-series, 8-series models will have a USB port that can be used to access MPEG-4, XviD, MP3, and JPEG files stored on flash drives or related portable storage systems. The 8-series supports Samsung's new Wireless LinkStick USB-based Wi-Fi adapter that is currently available for an estimated price of $34.99.

The red-accented 46-inch LN46A850 and 52-inch LN52A850 carry an estimated price of $2,699.99 and $3,399.99, respectively. The blue-accented 46-inch LN46A860 and 52-inch LN52A860 incorporate an additional USB port (total of two) and will have an estimated price of $2,799.99 and $3,499.99, respectively. All 8-series models are expected to arrive in stores in September.

Series-6 LCDs
Samsung's new 6-series LCDs strike a good balance between picture performance, style, and price. These 1080p/120-Hz sets also incorporate the company's "Touch of Color" bezel design, which imbeds a subtle red gradient into the frame's border. The 6-series offers three v1.3 HDMI ports (one side, two rear) as well as a USB port for accessing digital picture and music files on portable storage devices.

The new 6-series lineup will include the 40-inch LN40A630, the 46-inch LN46A630, and the 52-inch LN52A630, with estimated selling prices of $1,699.99, $2,099.99, and $2,699.99, respectively. Samsung's 630 models are expected to arrive in stores in August.

Series-7 Plasmas
Samsung's Series-7 plasma televisions have full 1080p resolution and the company's latest surface filter technology that claims to effectively reduce undesirable ambient light reflections for an improved viewing experience. (The demo of this filter at the 2008 Consumer Electronics Show was quite impressive.) Multimedia ready, the 7-series plasmas have an Ethernet port for basic RSS-style features and DLNA-certification for the streaming of music, image, and video files from compatible server hardware. Similar to the Series-8 LCDs, the Series-7 sets also incorporate a USB 2.0 port that is compatible with Samsung's Wireless LinkStick Wi-Fi USB adapter. Additional A/V connection options include four v1.3 HDMI ports.

The 50-inch PN50A760, the 58-inch PN58A760, and the 63-inch PN63A760 list for $2,799.99, $4,499.99, and $5,499.99, respectively. Samsung's Series-7 Plasma HDTVs are expected to arrive in stores in August.
