London's Palestra to Be Re-installed with Wind Turbines

London's Palestra to Be Re-installed with Wind TurbinesThe London Climate Change Agency will install new wind turbines at Palestra building following the recall of the Swift turbines manufactured by Renewable Devices and installed on behalf of Solar Technologies Ltd in 2006 by its sub contractor Scottish and Southern Energy.

The Swift turbines were originally commissioned in November 2006 and operated for approximately six weeks before being recalled by Renewable Devices due to a component failure.

The LCCA will trial the new Swift II wind turbine - which has been developed by Renewable Devices using re-engineered software and different construction to the original Swift Turbines - and one other turbine. Full installation will be subject to the results of the trial installation and is expected to take place in the first quarter of 2008.

The LCCA has worked continuously with Solar Technologies Ltd to re-install or replace the wind turbines following the product recall. However Scottish and Southern Energy have refused to re-install the wind turbines on behalf of Solar Technologies Ltd. Therefore the LCCA has decided to re-install the new turbines outside of the Solar Technologies Ltd original contract.
