Berlin, Germany - August 30, 2007 - Samsung Electronics Co. Ltd., announces that it stakes out new, premium territory in the crowded Full HD TV market with a new line of large-screen LCD TVs that combine the latest in high definition picture technology with inspired, timeless designs.
The goal of the new F9 series TVs (52", 70") is to roll out the new LED Smart lighting technology, known as “local dimming,” in some of the largest screen sizes available in the marketplace. Samsung also maintains its premium standards by packaging the lineup with its patented Full HD 1080p super clear LCD panel (52") and Wide Colour Enhancer to deliver superior HD quality with blacker blacks, more vivid colours and ultra-sharp images.
LED Smart lighting uses multiple LED backlight units. The TV intuitively senses the TV signal and adjusts the brightness level by turning on and off the right combination of the backlight units to produce a stunning dynamic contrast ratio of 500,000 to 1.
n addition, because the TVs use LED technology, now it is one of the most environmentally friendly TV options available. Samsung was also able to achieve significant reductions in power usage, more than 30%.
Sang-heung Shin, Senior Vice President of Samsung’s Visual Display Division, expanded on the Samsung’s decision to use the LED technology in their new top-end TVs, saying “This is the technology of the future. We are confident about it and believe there is significant demand for it in the marketplace today, especially for TVs of this caliber and size.”
Despite all the new technology, Samsung has not compromised on design, sound, ease-of-use or connectivity features. The concept of the TVs maintains Samsung’s reputation for innovative designs with a piano-black, high gloss body set off by elegantly soft corners and titanium fittings that display a luxury feel without ostentation.
The Trusurround XT stereo system in the F9 series comes complete with two built-in subwoofers that are neatly hidden from view and that drive more power into the lower frequencies of the 2.2 channel stereo. The unique design of the speaker unit separates the tweeters and allows for a wider frequency range, delivering a more dynamic sound quality with deeper bass and higher treble.
The F9 line also comes with WiselinkTM USB 2.0 for handy connections to digital cameras and MP3 players, and 3 HDMI connections that allow the users to take advantage of the Full HD capability of their various components, such as Blu-ray players, game consoles, and HD camcorders. The 52-inch versions come equipped with Samsung’s Auto-wall mount feature, allowing the viewer to easily change the viewing angle up to 20 degrees side to side and 15 degrees down using the remote control.
